Hockey Canada announces 2023 men’s U18 World Championship roster

Roster includes 22 players

Hockey Canada has released its roster for the upcoming 2023 Men’s Under-18 World Championships.

The roster includes 22 players (three goalkeepers, seven defenders and 12 forwards), eight of whom won gold for Canada at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer.

Canada is looking to bounce back after losing 5-6 to Finland in the quarter-finals of last year’s World Championships. Three players will return from the team: Tanner Howe, Matthew Wood and Lucas Dragicevich.

Jeff Truitt of the Western Hockey League’s Prince Albert Raiders will be the team’s head coach, while John Dean of the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste will be the team’s head coach. Marie Greyhounds and Bruce Richardson of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of Quebec’s Major Junior Hockey League will serve as assistants.

Justin Pogge, a 2004 rookie for the Toronto Maple Leafs who represented Canada at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Vancouver, is the team’s goalie advisor.

The Under-18 Championship will be held in Basel and Porrentruy, Switzerland from 20-30 April.
