Two CK committees looking for volunteers

Chatham-Kent needs volunteers in several ways.

The municipality is calling for volunteers to join the Chatham-Kent Food Policy Committee and the Together CK Review Committee.

The Food Policy Committee is part of Chatham-Kent Public Health and is made up of community members and other key partners representing various sectors of the local food system. Their mission is to shape policy and advocate for our local food systems.

“It’s fair to say that the Food Policy Council provides a space for interested people to come together,” says Sharmini Balakrishnan, a dietitian for CK Public Health. “Instead of many different advocates working in silos around different issues in the food system, the Food Policy Committee creates opportunities for coordination and integration, and it is much more efficient.”

Members must be at least 18 years old and must live, work or provide services in Chatham-Kent.

Applications must be submitted by Friday 28 April 2023.

The Together CK Review Committee is looking to fill two volunteer positions to represent the City in reviewing and evaluating community grant applications and making recommendations to City Council.

The Together CK Grant Program is a municipal grant matching program that provides 50% of the funding for community group events and projects.

The committee is looking for individuals with a background in finance, social services or other related fields.

Applicants must be of legal age, be a Chatham-Kent resident, and be able to attend monthly meetings.

Individuals can click submit resume and fill out the online application form here.

The application deadline is Friday, May 5, 2023.
