Impaired driving charge laid after lawnmower used at restaurant drive-thru

Ontario Provincial Police are reminding the public that it doesn’t matter if they are driving a truck, car, fishing boat, canoe or lawn mower. If you are impaired, you will face impaired driving charges.

A 41-year-old Leamington man found the hard way after OPP officers spotted someone riding a lawn mower off the driveway of a restaurant on Talbot Street West in Leamington.

When the officer stopped the man on the lawn mower early Sunday morning, he realized the driver had been drinking. He was arrested and brought back to the detachment for further testing.

The suspect faces two charges of DUI and is due to appear before a judge in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor next month.

Anyone with a driving impairment can call 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP from a mobile device.
