Sooke’s two parks will be temporarily closed later this month to film an episode of the “hit TV series”.
Ed Macgregor Park, Rotary Pier and Sooke Marine Boardwalk will be closed to the public between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. during filming on April 29, according to Sooke District.Meanwhile, the Whiffin Spit will be closed from 6:30am to 8pm
The district did not reveal which TV drama is being filmed.
On April 28, crews will be filming using drones and hand-held cameras in accordance with Transport Canada regulations. The public can look forward to filming taking place throughout the Sooke area.
The district’s statement encouraged the public to visit Ella Beach and Billings Spit, which will remain open to tourists during the closure. However, the park and parking lot will be closed to the public during production.
“The district has been working closely with the production company to balance community impact and meet production needs, and appreciates the residents’ understanding as we welcome this opportunity in Sooke,” the statement said.
It also mentioned that being involved in the film industry can boost the local economy and support local businesses.
