The St. Clair College women’s softball coach has been named the inaugural recipient of a provincial award.
Doug Wiseman has been named the inaugural OCAA Coach of the Year award for leading the Saints women’s softball team to continued success.
Wiseman was selected from a pool of candidates representing all of Ontario’s collegiate athletic divisions and individual sports.
The Saints finished an undefeated season during which they posted their first 24-0 record. St. Clair won its fifth OCAA title and first since 2014.
The St. Clair women’s softball team allowed just 20 runs all season, averaging less than 1 run per game. The Saints also broke three regular-season OCAA team records, including the most RBIs in a single season with 253 points, the most hits with 318 points and the most points scored in a single season with 277 points.
Wiseman will be honored at the 10th annual OCAA Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony on May 1 at the St. Clair Center for the Arts in Windsor.
