Sting down Spirit in OT to take 2-0 series lead



Sarnia Sting striker Luca Del Bel Belluz scored in extra time to give his club a 2-1 win over Saginaw Spirit on Sunday afternoon.

Sarnia’s Ty Voight also scored and goalkeeper Ben Gaudreau made 33 saves and was named the game’s first star to help Sting to a 2-0 win in the Western Conference semifinals. -0 leads the series.

Voight opened the scoring at 8:14 in the first quarter, his second goal of the postseason. Sarnia beat Saginaw 15-4 in the first inning and took a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Neither team scored in the second quarter. Gaudreau made eight saves and Spirit keeper Tristan Lennox blocked another 14 Sting shots – Lennox made a total of 45 saves and was named the game’s second star.
