The co-founders of Blue Bayfield say they are working with several community partners to have a very special Earth Day celebration on April 22.
Ray Letheran said volunteers would gather at Clan Gregor Square at 10.30am for the village cleanup. There will be an Earth Day celebration at 2pm at St Andrews Church in Bayfield with Alexandra Ho as the keynote speaker.
“So she’s currently an environmental studies student at the University of Waterloo, with a particular focus on the impact of climate change on young people. What we often forget is that children are disproportionately affected by this situation,” Letheran said.
Before that there are organized hikes.
“So we’re going to have an organized hike run by the trail association, with a knowledgeable person leading people on a walk around the trail and explaining how climate change and human behavior are affecting the watershed,” Letheran added.
Later in the afternoon, Letheran said, they will be hosting several earth science-based activities for the kids at Pioneer Park. A complete schedule of Earth Day celebrations on April 22 can be found on the Blue Bayfield website.
