Health unit seeking dog involved in biting incident

Gray Bruce Public Health is asking the public to help identify dogs with recent bites.

The health department said the incident happened at 9.30am on April 15 on Bayfield Street between Trowbridge and Nelson streets, near the Meaford waterfront. The dog is described as a pit bull/French mix, white and dark brown/black in color, and weighs approximately 50 to 60 lbs.

The dog is being searched to make sure it doesn’t have rabies. By verifying that the dog is not contagious, health departments can avoid post-rabies treatment for bite victims.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Gray Bruce Public Health at 519-376-9420 ext. 1262.
