New tech in police cruisers leads to stolen vehicle recovery



Wellington County OPP have recovered a stolen vehicle after a new Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them. ALPR is now installed in all Wellington Police vehicles.

In the early morning of April 15, the police initiated a traffic stop. Police blew a tire on the vehicle after the driver failed to pull over.

Three people were arrested as a result of the ongoing investigation.

A 45-year-old, a 42-year-old and a 33-year-old man, all from Cambridge, face charges of possessing more than $5,000 in proceeds of crime. The 42-year-old also faces charges of evading a sheriff, while the 33-year-old is charged with possession of a Schedule I substance, methamphetamine.
