Trucker charged after big rig rollover on Highway 402

A 26-year-old Brampton resident is facing charges after a tractor-trailer overturned accident caused a massive spill of rubbish in the middle of the 402 motorway in west London.

Emergency crews were called to a one-vehicle collision on the westbound lane of the motorway between Kerwood and Sexton Roads in Adelaide-Metcalf just before 6am on Tuesday.

Police determined the vehicle veered off the road into grassy middle ground, where it rolled over and dumped its contents. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

One westbound lane was closed for about seven hours while crews cleared up the mess.

On Wednesday, police confirmed a Brampton resident had been charged with careless driving.
