Wendy Allen knew her daughter was going to be special even before she was born. In 1997, Ellen was giving birth at home when a bird that looked like a Tennessee warbler flew into the room. Allen took this as inspiration and named his daughter Tennessee Bird Andersen, Tenne for short. Andersen grew up on a piece of rural land south of Nelson and thrived in nature.
